Derustit SS-3 Paste is a brush-on pickling and passivation paste for stainless steel welds. Its thick consistency clings to weld seams and vertical surfaces, removing heat tint, oxide scale, and contamination and restoring the passive chromium-oxide layer — without electricity or immersion tanks.

Ideal for spot-treating welds on fabricated stainless in food, chemical, architectural, and industrial work. Brush on, dwell, and rinse for a clean, passivated finish consistent with ASTM A380 and ASTM A967.

Frequently asked questions

Paste vs. gel vs. liquid — what's the difference?
Paste and gel are thick and cling to welds and vertical surfaces for spot pickling/passivation; the liquid is better for immersion or larger clean surfaces that need passivation. All restore corrosion resistance.
How do I apply SS-3 Paste?
Brush it onto the weld/heat-affected area, let it dwell, then rinse thoroughly with water. Wear proper PPE and follow the SDS.
Does SS-3 Paste expire? What's the shelf life?
There's no fixed expiration date. Stored sealed at normal room temperature, SS-3 Paste stays effective for years, so you can stock up on larger sizes without it going bad. Keep the container closed and protected from freezing and direct sunlight.
